Amentum is currently in search of an Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team.
The compensation for this role will be influenced by the candidate's educational background, professional experience, expertise, and skills, as well as internal equity and market standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed analysis and reverse-engineering of electronic circuit boards related to improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and develop comprehensive device characterizations.
- Identify, capture, and analyze electronic components from IED circuit boards, focusing on arming, firing, and source characteristics.
- Characterize and identify RF receiver and transmitter modules, including circuit board characteristics, operational frequencies, and power specifications.
- Research and specify component nomenclatures, and reverse-engineer devices as necessary.
- Analyze recovered electronic components, including power sources and switching circuits.
- Visually identify electronic components of IEDs, conduct thorough research, and create accurate schematics of devices.
- Utilize standardized tools and techniques to analyze, demodulate, and decode signals for intelligence extraction.
- Employ laboratory measuring instruments, such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators, to exploit devices and materials effectively.
- Execute Electronic Data Recovery (EDR) on various media storage devices using advanced forensic tools and analyze recovered data for investigative purposes.
- Document all findings in required formats, including component lists, circuit layouts, and technical drawings.
- Characterize devices in designated databases to facilitate comparisons with other IEDs and components.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports detailing the results of analyses and exploitation.
- Report significant findings to military and Department of Defense leadership.
- Support the development of countermeasures against electronic devices and signals.
- Provide insights for profiling and signature analysis.
- Create technical reports and storyboards based on captured data.
- Maintain a documented chain of custody for all items and data.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a radio frequency (RF) testing environment, focusing on characterizing electronic components for intelligence applications.
- Five (5) years of experience conducting benchtop RF measurements using various equipment, including signal generators and oscilloscopes.
- Experience in testing and characterizing electrical components of IEDs and/or Software Defined Radios (SDR).
- Familiarity with standard operating procedures for the handling and transport of samples and components from captured materials.
- Proven ability to produce detailed technical reports and develop device profiles.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret US Government clearance, requiring US Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain a US Passport.
- Must successfully complete a medical assessment as per customer requirements.
