Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer

Grifols, a global healthcare company, is seeking an Electrical and Instrumentation Engineer to join its team. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for managing assigned scope, cost, and schedule for electrical and instrumentation duties.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and instrumentation engineering, with experience in the pharmaceutical industry. A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is required, and professional registration and/or certifications are preferred.

The role will involve working in all phases of capital projects, from planning and design to procurement, construction, and start-up. You will be responsible for designing low-voltage power distribution and motor control systems, selecting and sizing instrumentation, and preparing equipment specifications and bid packages.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively within teams. They will also be capable of adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GxP) and will be required to occasionally travel internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned scope, cost, and schedule for electrical and instrumentation duties
  • Design low-voltage power distribution and motor control systems
  • Select and size instrumentation
  • Prepare equipment specifications and bid packages
  • Perform vendor and bid evaluations, progress monitoring, and factory acceptance testing
  • Field supervise contractors during construction to ensure safety, quality, and schedule
  • Perform equipment start-up, develop and execute commissioning protocols, and prepare turnover packages for the site
  • Develop single lines, motor control schematics, and loop sheets
  • Sizes electrical components based on NFPA 70
  • Modify existing or develop new specifications to meet requirements of project scopes
  • Coordinate with other disciplines throughout design, construction, and startup
  • Provide initial configuration settings for VFDs and Motor Starters
  • Communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • Professional registration and/or certifications as appropriate
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • PE license in NC preferred

Occupational Demands:

  • Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms
  • Exposure to occasional extreme cold below 32* in production areas
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment
  • Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, and gloves
