Job Overview

Position Summary:
We are looking for a committed and meticulous Healthcare Receptionist/Assistant to become a vital part of our medical team at DMV Allergy and Asthma Center. This combined role is crucial for delivering both clinical and administrative assistance, ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office while providing exceptional care to our patients.

Core Responsibilities:

Clinical Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Support healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies.
- Measure and document patient vital signs, medical histories, and pertinent information.
- Administer prescribed medications and injections, and conduct basic laboratory tests as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Educate patients on medication usage, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.

Administrative Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Welcome patients and visitors with a friendly and professional attitude.
- Manage appointment scheduling, patient flow, and maintain an organized waiting area.
- Respond to phone inquiries, assist patients with questions, and manage appointment confirmations and reminders.
- Verify patient insurance details, collect copayments, and address billing questions.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and oversee the follow-up process.
- Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including emails and faxes.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant program is preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is advantageous.
- Prior experience in a medical office, clinic, or similar healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to multitask and effectively manage time in a dynamic setting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of medical terminology and fundamental clinical procedures.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.

Work Environment:
- Full-time position with potential for extended hours as necessary.
- Primarily situated in a medical office environment, with exposure to clinical settings.
