Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the facilities and business services department, ensuring alignment with the college's mission and goals.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term plans for managing facilities, focusing on capital renewal, operational efficiency, and environmental initiatives.
- Manage daily operations, including campus physical plants, maintenance, non-capital construction, custodial services, fleet management, grounds, and renovation projects.
- Oversee departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Lead projects, ensuring adherence to quality and performance standards, and evaluate and manage contracts with external contractors and service providers.
- Champion sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives across campus facilities.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, planning, business, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in facilities management, business operations, or a field directly related to this position.
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent supervisory experience.
- Recognized certification or license as an Architect or Professional Engineer or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
- Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (AutoCad 2020) and ability to read blueprints.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Possess strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills and acumen.
- Demonstrated abilities as an effective and exceptionally skilled communicator, specifically as it relates to verbal, written communication, and active listening.
- Demonstrated strong personal integrity, ability to form effective partnerships, ability to collaborate with others, and work in a team environment consistent with the College of Lake County values.
- Demonstrated success using inquiry and evidence to inform decision-making, short- and long-term planning.
- Proven commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, proactively demonstrated through the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, identities, and abilities.
- Recent professional experience working in the public sector.
- Experience working for a post-secondary education institution.
- Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, or Construction Management.
- Knowledge of Illinois Compiled Statutes and Community College Act related to procurement and construction.
- Knowledge of building codes (IBC, NFPA, ADA, IECC, Illinois Plumbing Code).
- Knowledge of AIA Contracts.
- Professional Certification in Project Management.
- Bilingual Spanish and English.
