Position Overview: This role serves as a pivotal leadership position within the facility, reporting directly to the Senior Medical Director of Women's Health at IHC Health Services, Inc. Additionally, this leader will engage with the hospital's administrative team in an indirect capacity.

Work Schedule: The position entails 4 hours per week dedicated to administrative responsibilities, alongside full-time clinical duties as an OB/GYN Hospitalist at a designated facility, averaging 7 24-hour shifts monthly.

Clinical Responsibilities: Our OB/GYN Hospitalists are tasked with providing care for unassigned patients and managing follow-up care. They are also responsible for delivering emergency obstetric services to patients with urgent conditions. During a typical 24-hour shift, the OB Hospitalist can expect to be involved in 2-3 deliveries, with occasional care for unassigned GYN non-surgical and unstable patients in the Emergency Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote the core values of IHC Health Services, including Safety, Quality, Equity, Experience, Access, Stewardship, and Engaged Caregivers.
  • Enhance the obstetric patient experience throughout the facility.
  • Provide clinical leadership for obstetric providers within the institution.
  • Collaborate closely with local hospital leadership across various specialties to ensure the highest quality and safety in obstetric care.
  • Educate obstetric providers and nursing staff on regional obstetric practice standards.
  • Work in partnership with the OBGYN Department chair on leadership initiatives and critical decisions.
  • Oversee the OB Hospitalist program, including call schedule coordination.
  • Manage quarterly Labor and Delivery simulation exercises.
  • Engage in peer review and investigations related to obstetric cases, sharing insights and updates during departmental meetings.
  • Support research initiatives in collaboration with the Office of Research.
  • Provide specialty-specific consultations as needed.
  • Address any professional or performance concerns as necessary.

Essential Qualifications:

  • M.D. or D.O. with residency and Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine.
  • Active privileges or qualification for credentialing at IHC Health Services facilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience with progressive leadership roles in obstetrics.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of IHC Health Services.
