Position Overview: This leadership role is integral to the operational success of our Women's Health division, reporting directly to the Senior Medical Director. The selected candidate will engage in both administrative and clinical responsibilities, dedicating approximately 4 hours weekly to administrative tasks while serving as a full-time OB/GYN Hospitalist.
Clinical Responsibilities: The OB/GYN Hospitalist will provide care for unassigned patients, manage emergency obstetric situations, and facilitate follow-up care. During a typical 24-hour shift, the hospitalist can expect to oversee 2-3 deliveries and may also attend to non-surgical GYN patients in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and uphold the core values of Safety, Quality, Equity, Experience, Access, Stewardship, and Engaged Caregivers.
- Enhance the obstetric patient experience across the facility.
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to obstetrics providers.
- Collaborate closely with local hospital leadership across various specialties to ensure optimal quality and safety in obstetric care.
- Educate hospital staff on regional obstetric practice standards.
- Work alongside the OBGYN Department chair on strategic decisions.
- Oversee the OB Hospitalist program and coordinate the call schedule.
- Facilitate quarterly Labor and Delivery simulations.
- Engage in peer reviews and investigations related to obstetric cases, sharing insights and updates during departmental meetings.
- Lead research initiatives in partnership with the Office of Research.
- Provide specialized consultations as required by internal departments.
- Address any professional or performance-related concerns as necessary.
Essential Qualifications:
- M.D. or D.O. with completed residency and Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology from an accredited institution.
- Must possess or be eligible for a medical license.
- Active privileges or qualifications for credentialing at affiliated hospitals.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both clinical and non-clinical teams.
- 3-5 years of clinical experience with progressive leadership roles in obstetrics.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Strong character, integrity, and commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to build trust and respect among peers, foster teamwork, and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Strong communication skills to articulate vision and engage others.
- Proactive approach to change and empowerment of team members.
