Facilities Maintenance Technician

At Great Lakes Water Authority, we are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our heating, refrigeration, ventilation, and other mechanical building equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform shop math and troubleshoot building systems and equipment
- Read, comprehend, and interpret drawings, specifications, schematics, and equipment documents
- Perform emergency repairs, predictive maintenance, and preventative maintenance work orders
- Perform maintenance of facilities, buildings, and grounds
- Perform facility and building repair, demolition, and construction as directed
- Perform and successfully complete work assignments timely and accurately
- Create, complete, close, and submit work orders
- Specify and estimate labor, tools, and materials needed for projects and assigned tasks
- Maintain various records and prepare reports
- Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all GLWA Teams
- Complete required training as assigned and as needed to maintain certifications and licenses
- Work safely and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in Building Construction, Facilities Maintenance, or related field
- Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver's License with the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain
- Ability to work irregular hours, commute to GLWA facilities and work sites
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing
Environmental Working Requirements:
Work is performed in inclement weather, the field, water and wastewater plants, combined sewer overflow basins, pumping stations, and office environments.
Work may be performed in confined spaces, hazardous areas that require respiratory protection and personal protective equipment (PPE), and under slippery and wet conditions.
Aerial lift and scaffolding work may be required.
