Position: Materials Planning Supervisor

We are excited to present an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced professional to take on the role of Materials Planning Supervisor at Blue Bird. In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient flow of materials for production, thereby supporting operational effectiveness and achieving production goals. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in material planning, inventory management, and team leadership.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a member of the Blue Bird Planning Team, reporting directly to the Director, this role entails overseeing the daily operations of the materials planning department. Key responsibilities include managing inventory levels, predicting material needs, collaborating with suppliers, and ensuring material availability aligns with production timelines. The primary focus will be on leading a team of planners, engaging with cross-functional teams, and driving enhancements in material planning processes to bolster operational efficiency and strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise a team of planners, ensuring that objectives are met within their designated supplier/commodity, providing solutions to supply challenges, and facilitating ongoing training and development.
- Coordinate, plan, and oversee deliveries through the MRP system, liaising with suppliers to guarantee timely deliveries and prevent supply interruptions.
- Manage the supply chain for incoming materials, oversee inventory, and collaborate with Engineering and Purchasing to avert shortages.
- Deliver supplier training, maintain clean unit targets, and assist team members as necessary.
- Establish selection codes for manufactured components and perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expertise in MRP systems, particularly in fabrication and work orders.
- Experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally within the commercial truck or automotive sector.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Capacity to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in material planning or supply chain management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, specifically in materials management.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Mainly office-based with occasional exposure to manufacturing conditions.
- Fast-paced work environment with evolving objectives.
- Willingness to work during special situations, weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
