About the Role

The Director of IT will be responsible for overseeing the technology infrastructure and ensuring the smooth and secure operation of all IT systems within the organization.

This role requires a strategic leader with strong technical expertise and the ability to align IT initiatives with the company's overall business goals.

The Director of IT will manage a team of IT professionals, drive technological innovation, and provide guidance for technology-related decisions that enhance the company's operations and competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the organization's IT strategy in alignment with business objectives, ensuring that technological resources meet the company's current and future needs.
  • Oversee all IT systems' maintenance, management, and security, including networks, servers, software, hardware, and cloud solutions.
  • Implement and monitor robust cybersecurity protocols to protect the organization's data and systems and ensure compliance with industry regulations, data privacy laws, and security standards.
  • Manage, mentor, and provide leadership to the IT team, fostering a collaborative environment, promoting professional growth, and ensuring the team is equipped to support the company's IT needs.
  • Prepare and manage the IT department's budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource allocation for technology investments, projects, and operational expenses.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee the selection and implementation of technology solutions.
  • Lead and manage IT projects, including system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on the business and proactively seeking opportunities to improve IT systems, processes, and services.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services, working closely with third-party vendors to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Test, configure, and implement insurance-specific tools and software for sales, marketing, customer service, and HR.
  • Monitor performance, integration, and functionality of company technology stack to ensure tools are working together cohesively.
  • Stay up to date on all product enhancements and share with team members so all are informed and utilizing systems to maximum capability.
  • Work with the Executive Leadership Team to help realize technology vision of making insurance easy for employees and customers, by incorporating management, employee, and customer feedback into system enhancements and changes.

  • Alignment of IT Strategy with Business Objectives: Successfully develop and implement IT strategies that align with the company's overall goals, ensuring that technological resources meet both current and future needs.
  • Effective IT Infrastructure Management: Ensure the seamless operation and security of the company's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, software, hardware, and cloud solutions, while maintaining high system reliability and performance.
  • Strengthened Cybersecurity and Compliance: Establish robust cybersecurity protocols to safeguard data and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations to mitigate potential risks.
  • Successful Project Implementation: Lead and manage IT projects, including upgrades and new system implementations, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget, with measurable improvements in IT operations.
  • Efficient Team Leadership and Development: Provide effective leadership to the IT team, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment that equips the team to meet the organization's evolving IT needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in IT management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and enterprise applications.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing large-scale IT projects.
  • Experience with budget management and cost control.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with senior leadership.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, CISSP) are a plus.
Work Environment

The Director of IT will primarily operate in a dynamic, fast-paced office environment, working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams across the organization.

This position demands a high degree of collaboration with various departments, including finance, operations, and HR, to ensure that IT systems align with the business's overall objectives.

The Director of IT must balance strategic decision-making with hands-on oversight of IT operations, often managing multiple projects simultaneously.

There may be occasional requirements to respond to urgent technical issues outside regular business hours, ensuring business continuity and system uptime.
