Position Overview

We are seeking an electrical systems authority to join our team who will be based in our operational hub. This individual will play a crucial role in maintaining our vessels' Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) systems through preventative maintenance programs, including equipment calibration, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The Electrical Systems Project Leader will serve as a subject matter expert, adept at managing multiple initiatives, delivering outstanding customer service, and addressing intricate engineering challenges. Responsibilities will include overseeing electrical system enhancements for vessel overhauls and repowering, as well as managing the integration of electronic controls, alarm systems, steering mechanisms, and other electrical improvements with a focus on safety and compliance in various environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directing and coordinating vendors and team members throughout the overhaul process.
  • Supervising direct reports and team members to ensure the installation of electrical systems on vessels adheres to regulatory standards.
  • Staying informed about current and emerging technologies.
  • Calibrating, testing, inspecting, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronic devices such as PLCs, transmitters, and controllers.
  • Assisting in the design, engineering, and procurement of electrical equipment and instrumentation systems.
  • Conducting site visits to assess and define the work scope for each vessel undergoing overhaul.
  • Ensuring thorough documentation of the overhaul processes.
  • Developing procedures and documentation for regulatory approval of equipment upgrades.
  • Participating in routine meetings regarding project progress and safety.
  • Managing vessel components from overhauls.
  • Sourcing necessary parts for projects and overseeing daily repairs.
  • Providing hands-on support to Chief Engineers during maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Completing records and documentation related to repairs.
  • Performing specialized technical assignments as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Reviewing invoices related to overhauls and repairs.
  • Assessing previous overhaul records to determine the scope of work.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal overhaul standards.
  • Maintaining essential documentation from vessel repairs.
  • Supporting departmental activities through regular attendance.
  • Assisting in the training of engineering staff.
Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain NFPA 70e certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of vessels and their systems is essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Capability to manage both direct and indirect reports, vendors, and processes across various domains.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize extensive information in alignment with operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with representatives from multiple departments to achieve shared objectives.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLCs, AC, and DC control systems.
