Job Summary:
The Resident Advocate is a vital member of our team at Community Assistance Network, responsible for providing support and guidance to residents in our homeless shelter. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to coordinate and implement programs, and a deep understanding of community services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist guests and visitors, providing a safe and clean environment for all residents.
- Complete daily intake of clients, making referrals for those in crisis and promoting CAN's services.
- Maintain a safe and clean reception area and facility, adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, ensuring a smooth operating facility.
- Supervise residents in completing assigned chores, attending classes, meetings, appointments, and other required services.
- Monitor and supervise residents, including their rooms, lobby, dining room, shelter trailer, patio, and shelter grounds.
- Complete Staff Shift Check List and record shift documentation onto the Staff Logbook prior to end of work shift.
- Supervise volunteers on shift and attend staff meetings as scheduled.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate and implement programs.
- Knowledge of community services and telephone skills.
- Effective listening, professionalism, effective communication skills (verbally & non-verbally), customer (client)-focus, informing others, handles pressure, phone skills, and supply management.
- Ability to work well under pressure and strong organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license and transportation.
- AA Degree in Human Services or Social Work or related field preferred. Two years of human service experience may be substituted for a college degree.
