Position Summary
The Heavy Equipment Transport Specialist is tasked with the crucial responsibility of transporting, delivering, and retrieving various types of construction and heavy machinery in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role involves operating both commercial and non-commercial vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport and deliver diverse construction materials and heavy machinery.
- Operate both commercial and non-commercial vehicles effectively.
- Conduct pre and post-trip inspections as mandated by DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation for compliance and inspection purposes.
- Secure construction equipment using appropriate methods in accordance with DOT standards.
- Communicate proactively with the Branch Manager and/or central dispatch regarding delivery timelines, potential delays, and traffic conditions.
- Engage actively in the safety culture of Herc Rentals, prioritizing the well-being of all individuals.
- Adhere to all company policies and operational protocols.
- Foster positive relationships with clients and customers.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Possess a solid understanding of commercial driving skills, particularly in challenging environments such as heavy traffic, adverse weather, and tight loading areas. Ability to interpret and comprehend operational procedures, manuals, and safety labels. Experience in operating large machinery is essential. Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations is preferred. A strong focus on customer service is necessary, along with the ability to adapt to changing business demands.
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Employment Conditions
Minimum of one year of verifiable driving experience or possession of a CDL license. Valid Medical Card is required. Experience with trailer towing or rollback operations is advantageous. Previous experience in hauling and operating construction equipment is preferred. Candidates must be capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting 50 lbs or more, and must be able to maintain physical activity for extended periods.
