The Healthcare Support Specialist/PSC plays a vital role in our operations, adapting to the varying clinical and administrative demands of the healthcare environment. This position encompasses a range of responsibilities, including direct patient interaction and support for healthcare providers, as well as managing essential administrative tasks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical tasks such as measuring vital signs and assisting with medical procedures, adhering to state regulations and practice standards.
  • Prepare examination areas, ensure equipment is sterilized, and maintain adequate clinical supplies.
  • Oversee patient documentation, ensuring readiness for appointments and addressing patient inquiries.
  • Facilitate patient check-in processes, confirming and updating personal information, and collecting necessary insurance details.
  • Process payments, manage daily financial transactions, and prepare deposits.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling, manage referrals, and oversee pre-authorization processes.
  • Handle incoming calls, triaging inquiries, managing prescription requests, and communicating test results.
  • Engage in team discussions, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and manage patient communications through various platforms.

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Proven customer service capabilities
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Medical Assisting is preferred
  • Experience with healthcare information systems, particularly Medent, is advantageous

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods
  • Frequent use of computers and medical technology
  • Regularly required to perform clinical tasks and prepare examination areas
  • Occasional lifting of equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases through patient interactions
