Per Diem Certified Surgical Technician-Operating Room Suite Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technician to join our team in the Operating Room Suite at Mount Sinai Health System. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for assisting in the performance of routine and delegated functions under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities- Assist in the performance of surgical procedures, including scrubbing, gowning, and gloving.
- Set up sterile instrument tables and prepare supplies according to the type of operation.
- Assist in draping patients and operative areas according to need.
- Anticipate and meet the needs of surgeons for instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies.
- Maintain aseptic technique at all times and report any discrepancies in sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
- Assist in the care, handling, and disposition of specimens.
- Assist in the application of dressings and securing drainage systems.
- Assist in moving patients to appropriate receptacles and decontaminating equipment and supplies.
- Assist in maintaining aseptic environments and controlling traffic in the operating room.
- High School diploma required.
- Courses in operating room technology, science, biology, and chemistry preferred.
- Graduation from a Certified CST Training Program.
- Certified Surgical Tech certification through NBSTSA required.
- Prefer experience in an operating room setting as a Surgical Tech.
