Position Overview:

Loudoun Water is seeking a dedicated Plant Engineer to join our Water Operations team at the Trap Rock Water Treatment Facility. We welcome applications for both Engineer and Senior Engineer levels, depending on qualifications and experience.

This role encompasses providing engineering support and overseeing process operations at our facility, which includes various water sources, reservoirs, and dam systems. Candidates with experience in the design and management of water treatment facilities will be given preference.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer technical guidance to the Operations & Maintenance Division on matters related to drinking water, including treatment processes, source water management, dam and reservoir operations, maintenance, process control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop engineering solutions that align with operational criteria to ensure effective and efficient water treatment.
  • Analyze and manage data using PowerBI and SCADA systems, contributing to the development of operational trends, dashboards, and control algorithms.
  • Utilize WIMS software for comprehensive data management and support the expansion of this software, as well as assist in the implementation of future departmental software needs.
  • Assess regulatory challenges impacting facilities and prepare detailed analyses, testing plans, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Construction teams during the startup of facilities and assist in troubleshooting and optimizing process control systems.

Qualifications:

Senior Plant Engineer:
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline, along with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the operations and evaluation of drinking water treatment facilities is required. An advanced degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering may substitute for some experience. Professional Engineer licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia is preferred.

Plant Engineer:
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field is required. An advanced degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related engineering discipline is preferred. Eligibility for or licensure as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia is also preferred.
