Investment Accounting Manager

The Koch Industries Investment team is seeking a highly skilled Investment Accounting Manager to support the organization in all finance, accounting, and financial reporting matters. As a primary business partner, you will create value by working closely with the investment teams, ensuring investments are accurately recorded under US GAAP and in line with economic performance.

This role requires a strong understanding of complex accounting transactions, including investments, derivatives, and VIE/consolidation analysis. You will be responsible for analyzing monthly results, communicating risks and anomalies to management, and collaborating with investment groups and third-party administrators to validate accounting treatments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ownership over monthly accounting processes for a large portfolio of complex investment strategies
  • Analytical review and comprehension of monthly results, with proactive communication of risks, significant transactions, or anomalies to management
  • Collaboration with investment groups and third-party administrators to understand investment strategies and validate accounting treatments
  • Researching and documenting technical accounting position papers for new and existing investment positions
  • Providing ad hoc information and analysis to groups across the organization, including investment teams, FP&A, treasury, tax, risk, and business leaders
  • Performing balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving corrective action required
  • Reviewing financial statements and deliverables on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and provide proper oversight
  • Supporting annual audit process as needed

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business-related field
  • 6+ years of experience in Accounting, Audit, Financial Analysis, Investments, Trading, or similar role
  • Existing working knowledge or ability to independently research and understand complex accounting transactions
  • Ability to conduct technical accounting research and document positions in an organized manner
  • Strong analytical thinking, capable of evaluating information and identifying process improvement opportunities
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with ability to comprehend and present financial concepts and investment transactions to various audiences
