Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Management: Ensure the safe arrangement, appearance, and decor of the classroom, creating a stimulating and engaging environment for children.
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing classroom activities that align with the YMCA's policies and philosophy, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication with parents/guardians, including regular updates and informal meetings as needed, to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting children's growth and development.
  • Child Safety and Well-being: Supervise children at all times, ensuring their physical and emotional safety, and responding to their needs in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete paperwork, including submitting written curriculum as required by the Site Director, and maintain accurate records of children's progress and development.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of 12 Early Education Units, including the infant class, and at least 18 years of age (may be higher depending on state law).
  • Certifications and Training: CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Skills and Qualities: Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting, ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities, and previous experience with diverse populations.
Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to plan, lead, and participate in activities, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Compensation

$18-$19 hourly
