Position Summary

This role involves performing custodial maintenance tasks, which include:

  • Dusting, mopping, and buffing floors
  • Vacuuming and shampooing carpets
  • Cleaning and restocking restrooms

Compensation: $4.22 H&W

Schedule: 40 hours/week

Work Location: Float Position - will operate at various sites.

Independence in Work: The Custodian will work independently.

Key Responsibilities

The Custodian will be responsible for:

  • Conducting general custodial tasks, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and restroom maintenance.
  • Performing routine upkeep on custodial equipment and supplies.
  • Disposing of trash properly and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Securing areas by locking doors post-cleaning.
  • Reporting supply needs and other concerns to the Project Manager.
  • Ensuring the proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, while promoting workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Assisting in training new staff on standard procedures.
  • Carrying out cleaning tasks specific to assigned facilities or based on project requirements.
  • Completing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Less than high school education; no prior experience necessary. Completed degrees from accredited institutions exceeding the minimum education requirement may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Ability to comprehend verbal instructions.
  • Understanding of safety protocols.
  • Capability to operate vacuums and related equipment.
  • Skill in safely using cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy objects.
  • Proficiency in reading and following safety procedures.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This position requires:

  • Regular dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and restroom cleaning.
  • Routine maintenance of custodial equipment.
  • Use of power equipment for floor maintenance and carpet cleaning.

Conditions of Employment

Must meet program eligibility requirements, pass a pre-employment criminal background check, and have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

This role involves considerable physical activity, including heavy lifting and manual labor. The work environment may expose the individual to various hazards, necessitating adherence to basic safety measures.

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or higher.
