Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse - South Shore provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises the patient care performed by certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs). This role requires adherence to current federal, state, and local standards, as well as guidelines and regulations that govern the facility. The facility operates 24/7, which may result in varied hours and days worked.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver individualized nursing care using a systematic approach, ensuring care is provided in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
- Coordinate admission, discharge, and transfer of residents, making rounds every two hours to assess physical and emotional status and initiate necessary nursing interventions.
- Perform nursing evaluations, accurately reporting and documenting resident symptoms, responses, and status, and collecting data for assessments and plan of care development.
- Make nursing diagnoses and select appropriate interventions to stabilize resident conditions and prevent complications, evaluating resident responses to interventions.
- Consult with physicians or licensed independent practitioners to clarify orders or treatment regimens, ensuring accurate administration of medications and treatments.
- Review medication and treatment records for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to stop order policy, administering and documenting medications, enteral nutrition, IV therapy, and treatments as ordered.
- Design, promote, and organize resident education and counseling based on health needs, collaborating with residents, healthcare teams, and significant others to provide continuity of care.
- Plan, organize, manage, and coordinate nursing rehabilitation/restorative nursing care, initiating interventions to promote resident independence.
- Supervise nursing staff performing rehabilitation/restorative nursing activities, teaching nursing assistants about prevention measures.
- Coordinate nursing interventions with therapies (PT, OT, ST, RT), keeping others informed about resident status and responding to concerns.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- One year of directly related experience, with new graduates considered.
- Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Current BLS – Basic Life Support certification.
