Job Summary

Lexington Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Diabetes Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing structured programs, in-services, orientation, and ongoing educational programs to foster the development of competence in our clinical staff.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of best practice processes regarding learner need identification, curriculum development, educational delivery methods, and coaching to promote professional growth and development.
  • Facilitate and lead teams, serve on committees and task forces as needed.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation of patient outcomes related to staff competency.
  • Support the integration of research into evidence-based practice.
  • Review and evaluate current research from various disciplines and integrate findings into staff development programs.
  • Communicate effectively throughout the healthcare system.
  • Communicate education outcomes to clinical staff and leaders.
  • Share knowledge with other healthcare team members.
  • Maintain required records and reports.
  • Provide a climate for learning and facilitate the adult learning process.
  • Incorporate teaching and learning theories, curriculum, and evaluation design, and technological options into educational approaches.
  • Meet all requirements as defined by LMC policies.
  • Complete yearly safety training and other mandatory classes.
  • Meet departmental attendance requirements.
  • Remain flexible in hours and days worked required.
  • Facilitate the staff's acquisition of knowledge and skills needed to provide cost-effective, quality patient care.
  • Develop, coordinate, implement, evaluate, and revise patient care and diabetic management education.
  • Collaborate with learners and supervisors utilizing outcomes data to plan and present educational activities that foster competency in staff.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
