Key Responsibilities

This role necessitates a comprehensive understanding of technical standards and specifications, welding methodologies, materials, non-destructive examination techniques, tools, and machinery. The position involves moderate physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing. Reporting to the Welding Supervisor, the following duties are expected:

  • Formulates welding methodologies and protocols by leveraging knowledge of production and industry standards.
  • Establishes welding guidelines to assist production and welding teams in adhering to specification requirements, processes, and pre and post-weld heating protocols.
  • Assesses new advancements in the welding sector for potential applications to current challenges or production workflows.
  • Conducts audits to verify compliance of personnel with established welding protocols, standards, and codes.
  • Oversees the testing of welding personnel for certification and re-certification.
  • Facilitates training and instructional sessions as necessary.
  • Manages the preparation and execution of audits, including NadCAP.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive records related to welding qualifications, machine calibration, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensures that welding rods and bulk argon supplies are consistently stocked and maintained.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Welding Engineering is advantageous.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of GTAW & GMAW experience as a Journeyman welder and fabricator.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASME SECTION IX, MIL-STD-1595, AMS-STD-2219, MIL-STD-2219, and AWS D17.1 standards.
  • Certification in Non-Destructive Testing and proficiency in reading and interpreting radiographic films.
  • Formal training and certification in ASME SECTION IX or its equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
  • Capable of drafting Procedure Qualification Reports, Weld Procedure Specifications, and Welder Qualification Records.
  • Familiarity with organizational planning, production methodologies, and materials.
  • Knowledge of non-destructive examination testing and techniques.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Excel and Word.
