Job Summary

Vigor is seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic to join our team. As a Marine Mechanic, you will be responsible for the mechanical maintenance and repair of ships, as well as yard mechanical maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on shipboard machinery, including valves, pumps, gears, and gearboxes.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues with shipboard systems, including propulsion, steering, and hydraulic systems.
  • Operate and maintain various types of equipment, including cranes, hoists, and power tools.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces, and be able to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; 5 years of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Proven skills and work history will be considered in lieu of work experience.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
Work Environment

The Marine Mechanic will work in a shop setting that is sometimes heated but not air-conditioned. The work environment will include exposure to acids, de-greasing cleaners, paints, solvents, oil, grease, liquid steel/putty, oil vapors, petroleum, caustics, fumes, noise, raw sewage, and asbestos.
