The role involves assisting during surgical operations by ensuring the maintenance of a sterile environment and providing necessary instruments to the surgical team. You will also engage in unit activities that uphold high standards of patient care quality. The position operates under the guidance of a

Registered Nurse.
It is crucial that candidates possess extensive orthopedic experience and hold a valid Surgical Technologist license in Colorado.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Demonstrate proficiency in sterile and aseptic techniques, applying knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures to support invasive therapeutic and diagnostic tasks.
  2. Ensure all surgical items are properly packaged and sterile, maintaining a safe operating room environment.
  3. Monitor the sterile field for potential contamination and take corrective actions as necessary.
  4. Work towards competency in Tier 1 surgical cases.
  5. Maintain adaptability while contributing to personalized patient care within the scope of practice.
  6. Communicate effectively with the perioperative team, actively participating in the Time Out Process, including briefings and debriefings.
  7. Assist with patient transport, room turnover, and preparation.
  8. Stay updated on new technologies and procedures, including instrumentation and equipment.
  9. Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
  10. Uphold the principles of a Just Culture.
  11. Perform additional duties as assigned, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or a Licensed Surgical Technologist License in Colorado is required.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association is necessary.
- Proficiency in computer skills is essential for completing online learning and accessing job-specific resources.
- A strong command of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
