- Administer the fiscal and administrative aspects of a large and diverse portfolio of federal and non-federal grants and contracts, demonstrating expertise in sponsored program accounting concepts and business processes.
- Read and interpret agreements to determine restrictions related to spending, prior approval requirements, applicable cost principles, and cost-sharing requirements.
- Monitor budgets and expenditures to evaluate compliance with grant or contract terms, verifying sufficient funds, proper authorization, and subcontract activity.
- Review and approve expenditures against awarded projects to ensure compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance and individual sponsor requirements, as well as institutional policies and procedures.
- Assist principal investigators and research staff in allocating salary costs to sponsored awards, ensuring proper payroll adjustments.
- Collaborate with Sponsored Programs Accounting to prepare invoices and financial reporting as required by sponsors.
- Support principal investigators in preparing Just-in-Time reports, RPPRs, grant/contract continuation applications, and ensuring compliance with sponsor directives.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5+ years' relevant work experience in grant/contract administration, research administration, or financial management.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a sensitivity to deadline-driven work and the ability to be self-motivated and self-managing.
- Excellent communications skills, with the ability to interact independently and with confidence with staff, faculty, colleagues, and outside agencies.
- Experience in university research administration and/or financial management settings, including management of sponsored projects administration.
- Understanding of Federal funding agencies and regulatory bodies, with the ability to research and interpret policies or regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in MSOffice applications, particularly MSAccess, MSWord, and MSExcel.
- Mastery of sponsored program accounting concepts and business processes, as well as a demonstrated understanding of how a university operates.
