Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician

The Division of Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine at the Commonwealth of Virginia is dedicated to providing exceptional clinical care for patients with lung disease and associated medical conditions. Our mission is to deliver the best possible care within the VCU Health System, while also providing top-notch teaching and research opportunities.
Chief Purpose of this Position:
The primary objective of this recruitment is to hire a skilled pulmonary and critical care physician with a focus on Advanced Lung Diseases, including Interstitial Lung Diseases, Sarcoidosis, and Bone Marrow Transplant related lung disease. This position will also contribute to expanding critical care and general pulmonology coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching:
- Active participation in the greater residency program, including recruitment, education, and advisory roles for DOIM residents.
- Providing teaching services to learners, including medical students, interns, and residents.
- Utilizing contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrating effective teaching skills and continually developing as a teacher for learners at all levels.
- Completing required evaluations of learners in a timely manner, including written and verbal feedback.
- Participating in other learning activities, such as foundations of clinical medicine, morning report, core conference, and other formal educational programs for undergraduate and post-graduate learners.
- Providing exemplary care in Advanced Lung Diseases, including Interstitial Lung Diseases, Sarcoidosis, and Bone Marrow Transplant related lung disease, while expanding critical care and general pulmonology coverage.
- Outpatient responsibilities, including clinic/outreach services and expanding the outpatient clinic footprint of VCU Health.
- Inpatient responsibilities, including critical care support, pulmonary consultation services, and meeting growing needs for critical care services.
- Completion of a residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine.
- Focused interest in Advanced Lung Diseases, including Sarcoidosis and Interstitial Lung Diseases.
- Demonstrated interest in subspecialties within Pulmonary Medicine, such as Sarcoidosis or Interstitial Lung Diseases.
- Proven skills relevant to the practice of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine, including significant clinical experience in general medical critical care.
- Interest in providing clinical care in the community at VCU partner sites.
- Expertise in subspecialties within Pulmonary Medicine, including Sarcoidosis or Interstitial Lung Diseases.
- Previous experience in a program with Lung Transplantation services.
