Key Responsibilities:
- Laboratory Operations: Conduct routine to advanced laboratory procedures, ensuring adherence to established protocols and federal regulations.
- Quality Assurance: Evaluate test results for precision, troubleshoot complex issues, and document findings that necessitate further action.
- Technical Oversight: Serve as the primary technical resource for designated areas, overseeing proficiency testing and maintaining high standards of quality control.
- Training and Development: Facilitate the training of new staff and students, manage competency assessments, and ensure ongoing education and compliance with safety standards.
- Specimen Management: Instruct patients on proper procedures, verify patient identification, and collect samples using appropriate methods.
- Patient Interaction: Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients with inquiries and managing patient orders efficiently.
- Administrative Support: Handle clerical tasks, maintain inventory of supplies, and participate in departmental meetings and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant laboratory field or equivalent experience.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in a high-complexity laboratory setting.
- Eligibility for HHS approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT) required.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves light work, including occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs and frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs.
