Job Summary

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bus Driver to transport students to and from school and on field trips. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our students while maintaining a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a school bus on assigned routes, adhering to state and local laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular vehicle inspections to ensure all safety equipment is in working order.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation, including monitoring their behavior and ensuring they are dropped off at the correct location.
  • Maintain accurate records of student transportation, including attendance and any incidents that may occur.
  • Collaborate with the transportation coordinator to ensure routes are running on schedule and make adjustments as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three-month to one-year certificate in a truck or bus driving program preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience as a bus driver or truck driver preferred.
  • Valid Class B Minnesota Driver's license with school bus and passenger endorsement required.
  • Must have a clean driving record and be insurable under the Mille Lacs Band's auto insurance policy.
  • First Aid Certification required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
Working Conditions

This position requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and inclement weather. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
