Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Per Diem Medical Radiographer Nuclear Medicine to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a valuable member of our clinical team, you will provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produces diagnostic exams, positions, and transfers patients while ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Selects and operates equipment, including diagnostic imaging machines, to produce high-quality images.
  • Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards and assists physicians in administering opaque media.
  • Delegates areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures and may be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the school of technology and ancillary personnel.
  • Assists in performing first aid, practices sterile techniques, and prevents cross-contamination.
  • Conducts periodic quality control tests and participates or conducts research in required specialty.
  • Teaches radiology students or appropriate hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment, in accordance with the guidelines and teaching objectives of the department.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Licensed by the NYS DOH in Nuclear Medicine Radiology Technology. NMTCB and BLS Certification.
  • Nuclear Medicine and Hospital Experience preferred.
What We Offer

Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas on the premises. All Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.

This function/position may be designated as "essential." This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital and related facilities.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 5-panel drug screen.
  • Successfully complete a Background Check investigation.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
