Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Radiographer to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our Nuclear Medicine department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic exams, position patients, and provide immobilization devices as needed
  • Select and operate equipment, ensuring proper technical factors for individual patient needs
  • Provide protection in accordance with safety standards and assist physicians in administering opaque media
  • Delegate areas of authority in routine or special procedures and may be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the school of technology and ancillary personnel
  • Assist in performing first aid, practice sterile techniques, and prevent cross-contamination
  • Conduct periodic quality control tests and participate or conduct research in required specialty
  • Teach radiology students or hospital personnel established procedures and operation of equipment, in accordance with department guidelines and teaching objectives
Requirements
  • Graduate of a School of Nuclear Medicine Technology
  • Licensed by the NYS DOH in Nuclear Medicine Radiology Technology
  • NMTCB and BLS Certification
  • Preferred: Nuclear Medicine and Hospital Experience
What We Offer

Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment, and all hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair. This function/position may be designated as "essential," requiring employees to remain at their work location or report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital, and related facilities.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services, complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references, successfully complete a 5-panel drug screen, and successfully complete a Background Check investigation. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
