At GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation, our engineers are dedicated to pioneering new technologies and delivering cutting-edge products, such as Hybrid Electric aircraft and advanced military platforms. Our facility boasts extensive laboratory space, equipped with high-power test cells, an EMI chamber, and various specialized labs for electronics and real-time simulation.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties
- Design and engineer high voltage power electronic circuits and components tailored for the aviation sector, focusing on converters and inverters.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to a multidisciplinary team engaged in project execution.
- Participate in and lead technical review sessions.
- Develop and implement strategies to fulfill technical program objectives by collaborating with suppliers, manufacturing, and other relevant disciplines.
- Formulate and execute action plans to resolve issues related to power electronics as they emerge during projects.
- Offer technical expertise for various customer proposals.
- Acquire specialized knowledge in power electronics.
- Stay informed about the latest technological advancements in the field.
- Contribute to the development of strategies and policies, ensuring successful delivery within the area of responsibility.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of best practices and understand how the area integrates with others; maintain awareness of competitive factors and differentiators in the market.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a power electronics engineering capacity.
- This position necessitates the use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions, and applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
- Experience in aviation electrical power engineering.
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in designing power electronic circuits.
- Familiarity with high voltage and high power converters/inverters.
- Knowledge of EMI (Common Mode and Differential Mode), transformers, semiconductor switches, and various PWM schemes.
- Experience with simulation tools such as PLECS.
- Understanding and design experience with 3-phase motor/generator systems.
- Strong expertise in electrical circuit design and layout.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership capabilities.
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve technical challenges.
