We are seeking a highly skilled Language Specialist to join our team at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). As a Language Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the FBI's mission to protect the American people and uphold the Constitution of the United States.
Job SummaryThe Language Specialist will be responsible for translating and interpreting foreign languages, including Arabic, Chinese-Mandarin, French, Haitian-Creole, Persian-Iranian (Farsi), Russian, Spanish, Swahili, and Uzbek. You will work closely with investigative personnel to provide accurate and timely translations of foreign language documents, recordings, and other materials.
Key Responsibilities- Translate and interpret foreign languages, including written and spoken materials
- Research and analyze foreign language documents and recordings to provide accurate and timely translations
- Work closely with investigative personnel to provide translations and interpretations that meet the needs of FBI investigations and operations
- Develop and maintain expertise in multiple foreign languages, including Arabic, Chinese-Mandarin, French, Haitian-Creole, Persian-Iranian (Farsi), Russian, Spanish, Swahili, and Uzbek
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be able to obtain a Top Secret-SCI clearance
- Must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as linguistics, languages, or international relations
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in a related field, such as translation, interpretation, or language instruction
- Must be proficient in multiple foreign languages, including Arabic, Chinese-Mandarin, French, Haitian-Creole, Persian-Iranian (Farsi), Russian, Spanish, Swahili, and Uzbek
