Job Overview

About the Role

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations. They will participate in regular tax audits and payroll, prepare budgeting reports and forecasting revenue, and manage month-end and year-end closing.

Key responsibilities include monitoring the daily performance of the accounting department, organizing financial data into useable information, maintaining updated records, tracking the progress of financial and accounting objectives, establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and principles, and preparing financial statements and analysis for monthly and annual reports.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, or senior accountant.
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Familiarity with financial accounting statements and experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like FreshBooks and QuickBooks.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to direct and supervise.
