Perioperative Nurse Educator Overview

As a Perioperative Nurse Educator, you will play a pivotal role in the establishment of new, state-of-the-art operating rooms designed to enhance our advanced robotic surgical capabilities, including the daVinci XI and daVinci 5 systems, as well as orthopedic total joint replacement procedures utilizing the Cori and Mako platforms, alongside Globus Spine surgeries.

Your primary responsibility will be to guide novice operating room personnel through the AORN Periop 101 program, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge for effective practice.

In this role, you will lead the creation and management of comprehensive orientation programs for new hires, as well as the ongoing development of evidence-based competency assessments.

It will be essential to monitor the progress of staff members continuously, adjusting educational plans in collaboration with RN preceptors, Clinical Leaders, and Nurse Directors across various perioperative services, including the Operating Room, Endoscopy, and PACU.

Furthermore, you will assess the educational needs of seasoned staff, designing and delivering relevant training programs, including an annual skills enhancement day.

In addition, you will be responsible for developing and updating written protocols, policies, and procedures that direct nursing staff in delivering perioperative care in alignment with evidence-based practices.

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with experience in Procedural Nursing; a Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
