Position Overview:

The Director of Sourcing and Production Planning is tasked with the vital role of shaping, implementing, and guiding the strategic vision of our sourcing and planning divisions. This includes overseeing sourcing methodologies, operational scheduling, and the performance and growth of the Production Planning and Purchasing Teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and streamline processes from material sourcing to equipment scheduling on the production floor.
  • Develop a comprehensive global supply chain through effective leadership of the purchasing team.
  • Identify and execute initiatives aimed at optimizing the supply chain.
  • Implement strategies for integrated materials management, procurement, strategic sourcing, and capacity planning.
  • Formulate sourcing strategies for both domestic and international markets.
  • Lead efforts to optimize inventory levels and manage supplier-held inventory.
  • Drive cost improvements through favorable Purchase Price Variance (PPV) and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects.
  • Guide team members in developing and executing both short-term and long-term capacity planning and analysis.
  • Assess training and development needs within the team and create actionable training plans.
  • Establish and manage risk mitigation strategies to safeguard key strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to analyze customer demand trends.
  • Facilitate decision-making processes for new and existing products in partnership with other departments.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including at least one role within a manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to create complex spreadsheets for data communication.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Experience at the director or executive level leading sourcing, supply chain, procurement, and planning functions in an industrial manufacturing context.
  • Managerial experience in operations within an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Willingness to travel 10-20% of the time.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in managing operating income.
  • Proficient in data analysis and mining using Excel, including pivot tables and advanced functions.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with a focus on process improvement.
