Job Summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Senior Radiologic Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for performing complex imaging examinations and providing a safe environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex imaging examinations, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Review and evaluate requisitions for diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed.
  • Identify patients according to hospital policy, using two identifiers.
  • Select appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
  • Assess patients' and parents' physical and emotional status, developing a care plan for each patient's specific needs.
  • Explain examinations and answer questions from patients and parents regarding radiation exposure and practices ALARA.
  • Follow departmental QC/data integrity workflow, practicing high reliability training.
  • Respond to patients' uniqueness, creating a supportive environment for patients and families.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the modality manager, chief technologist, or assistant chief technologist.
  • Train fellows, residents, students, and staff in imaging procedures and techniques.
  • Act as a mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital meetings.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Comply with ETU and HIPAA regulations.
  • Practice the 6 core values of the hospital: excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Further professional education and maintain knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental files.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • Meet, successfully complete, and maintain ARRT certification.
  • BLS certification.
  • Associates degree.
  • 3 years of experience.
  • Current MA Radiologic Technologist license required for General Radiography.
