As an Architecture Intern, you will be responsible for producing high-quality design documents, applying design and detailing fundamentals, and performing analysis and calculations. You will also have the opportunity to work on interdisciplinary drawing sets, assist with plotting and production, and maintain orderly work files.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produces well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness from layouts, sketches, or written instructions.
  • Applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in developing designs and specifications under the supervision of and subject to final approval by the Licensed Professional.
  • Performs analysis or calculations as assigned.
  • Creates work plan for assigned tasks. Monitors and projects personal workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules.
  • Coordinates and checks work carefully to minimize all deficiencies, errors, and omissions.
  • Performs dimensional, interference, and basic design checks on the layouts and sketches of Licensed Professionals and, as requested, on interdisciplinary drawing sets.
  • Assists Licensed Professionals with plotting/production/assembly of drawing packages and writing specifications.
  • Maintains orderly work files and prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence. When assigned, prepares presentation materials.
  • Subject to final approval of Licensed Professional, checks shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents.
  • Assists Licensed Professionals in field inspections, development of solutions to field problems, preparation of field orders, addenda, and record drawings.
  • Works toward accomplishing and documenting requirements to attain eligibility to take a professional licensing exam.
  • Participates in professional community organizations and trade organizations within discipline.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing a professional degree in architecture or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
