Job Summary

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to provide full lifecycle systems engineering technical contribution and leadership in support of unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft systems.

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to successfully work in a team environment. The successful candidate must be able to develop requirements, create system design documentation, utilize and maintain existing analytical models, and plan and conduct tests to validate requirements.

The Senior Systems Engineer will interface with internal and external project team members, company leadership, and customers.

  • Analyze customer/stakeholder requirements, decompose requirements, derive requirements, and allocate requirements to system and subsystem elements
  • Develop system architectures for new and existing systems
  • Conduct trade studies and perform design research of engineering concepts and explorations to determine optimal requirements and system architecture
  • Develop system/subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation
  • Develop test plans and reports
  • Lead and conduct various kinds of testing including hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), subsystem and system testing, and flight testing
  • Work in conjunction with Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements
  • Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex, engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Perform peer reviews of fellow team members' work
  • Assist in preparation of proposals and presentation materials. Lead or support system engineering technical reviews (SETR)
  • Travel to customer locations as needed (>25% travel may be expected at times)

Required Experience:

  • Experience developing system requirements and system design documentation
  • Sharp analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and is capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated technical leadership capabilities
  • Results-oriented, sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Experience working within the Defense and/or Aerospace industry is a must
  • Experience in Aircraft systems is a must; experience in unmanned aircraft is a plus
