Job Summary

General Dynamics Mission Systems, Inc. is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician - Wire Specialist to join our team in Pittsfield, MA. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for building and wiring production assemblies, repairing and replacing hardware, and assisting in the development of future production assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and wire production assemblies, including solder and wire, fiber optics, and similar assembly efforts.
  • Repair and replace hardware as needed.
  • Assist in the development of future production assemblies.
  • Operate various computer programs related to the position for time recording, access to shop planning, and business instructions.
  • Read, interpret, and work to drawings, schematics, wiring lists, and diagrams, work instructions, sketches, travelers, planning, and verbal directions.
  • Perform related duties as required and have the ability to perform all duties of R-16 Job Classification.
  • Set up and maintain workstation and related materials, including set up of solder and cleaning stations, control of age-controlled items, and hazardous materials and consumables.
  • Perform material identification and paint touch-up.
  • May give work direction/training to other employees as assigned.
  • May perform verification of other employee's work.
  • Maintain the work area and perform duties in a safe manner.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Related experience and/or training are desirable.
  • Ability to operate various computer programs related to the position.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work to drawings, schematics, wiring lists, and diagrams, work instructions, sketches, travelers, planning, and verbal directions.
  • Ability to perform related duties as required and have the ability to perform all duties of R-16 Job Classification.

  • Ability to give work direction/training to other employees as assigned.
  • Ability to perform verification of other employee's work.

Working Conditions

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and climb stairs and/or to use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb and balance; and talk and hear for 8 hours a day. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds without mechanical assistance.
