Job Responsibilities:
This position plays a vital role in assisting a team to identify, solicit, and arrange suitable insurance coverage for clients by leveraging binding authority and brokerage markets. Key responsibilities include:
  • Underwriting both new and renewal business while ensuring compliance with carrier guidelines.
  • Approving policy modifications and managing workload effectively.
  • Resolving coverage-related issues and monitoring claims.
  • Managing written business up to the binding stage in accordance with company protocols.

Core Duties:
Below is a summary of essential functions for this role. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed:
  • Oversee the underwriting process to ensure alignment with carrier guidelines and internal policies.
  • Submit necessary information to brokerage markets for accounts outside binding authority.
  • Make informed underwriting decisions and address complex coverage challenges for retail agencies.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with binding-authority and brokerage carriers.
  • Engage in marketing, quoting, binding, and confirming both new and existing business.
  • Negotiate optimal terms and coverages with accessible markets while ensuring timely communication with producers regarding submissions and decisions.
  • Evaluate and approve endorsement requests based on internal and carrier standards.
  • Monitor accounts to guarantee adherence to the firm's policies and procedures.
  • Meet documentation standards and comply with underwriting authority levels, passing all audits conducted by markets and the Internal Review Department.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses.

Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
The following requirements are necessary for this position:
  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant insurance designation.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in underwriting or brokering E&S or specialty insurance products.
  • Licensure in relevant insurance areas is required.
  • Ability to independently manage the underwriting and brokerage process, including analyzing insurance policy components, determining terms and conditions, and pricing insurance products.
  • Strong understanding of client needs and risk profiles.
  • Awareness of emerging trends in the insurance industry and ability to integrate them into underwriting strategies.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in underwriting the types of accounts managed by the supporting team.
  • Exceptional customer service skills for retail insurance agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A college degree with a focus on business or equivalent professional experience.
