Location Operations Leader Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Location Operations Leader is straightforward yet challenging: you are accountable for the success of your team's performance and, consequently, the success of the location itself. To achieve this, you will need to establish an operational rhythm and mentor your team in developing theirs. This role will be very hands-on.

Your unwavering focus will be on guiding your team toward excellence. You will be expected to:

  • Take ownership of outcomes. Treat everything that occurs in your facility as your responsibility.
  • Lead a team of 15-25 staff members, including an assistant and additional senior team members as the store expands.
  • Foster a positive, high-performance culture where your team feels empowered to make decisions (and learn from mistakes).
  • Increase the store's membership base, profitability, and contributions to the Dogtopia Foundation.
  • Continuously seek more efficient and effective operational methods and enjoy the process of discovering them.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Dog Operations: Oversee daycare, boarding, and spa services, implementing new initiatives as necessary.
  • Hiring & Training: Manage job postings, conduct interviews, and oversee the onboarding of new staff.
  • Performance Management: Lead and hold the team accountable for meeting established commitments; remove barriers to enable effective execution of responsibilities.
  • Financial Accountability: Oversee the profit and loss for the location.
  • Customer Service & Relationship Management: Collaborate with pet owners to resolve any issues or disputes amicably.
  • Facilities Management: Ensure the physical facility, including equipment and IT, is well-maintained.
  • Scheduling and Timekeeping: Manage staff schedules and timekeeping processes.

Your Background and Experience:

  • Proven success in leading a multi-functional team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of accountability for outcomes.
  • Experience that has required continuous learning and adaptation to new challenges.
  • A minimum of 3 years in retail, restaurant, hospitality, membership/club (gym, fitness, golf, etc.), childcare, or pet care, with at least 3 years in supervisory or managerial roles that have provided opportunities to lead, develop, train, and coach others.
  • Customer service experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Experience (not required):

  • Professional experience working with dogs.
  • Veterinary experience is a plus.
  • Sales and/or marketing experience.
