Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Campus Life Associate. This role is a critical part of our Residential Services Department, responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for all consumers, staff, and visitors at our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients and other rehabilitation team members to create a supportive residential/recreational experience
  • Assess individual and group needs, and plan and implement programs to meet those needs
  • Provide targeted supports and interventions for residential consumers to maximize their opportunity to succeed
  • Evaluate environmental factors and safety hazards during daily operations
  • Relate positively to people with disabilities, and foster a safe, clean, and supportive environment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a health and human service-related field, or equivalent experience
  • Training or experience in behavior modification, crisis intervention, problem-solving, confidentiality, and boundary issues
  • Knowledge of the theory and techniques used in recreational therapy, and experience working with persons with disabilities in therapeutic residential and recreational settings
  • Valid VA Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications in recreational therapy, fitness instruction, lifeguarding, or coaching
  • Experience working in a residential or dormitory setting, or in a recreation hall environment
