Fabrication Day Shift Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Day Shift professional to join our team at Hartzell. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for performing fabrication functions to take flat sheet goods and structural material to a finished part or product using established procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive work orders and verbal instructions from Production Supervisors or team leads.
  • Set up and operate manual fabrication equipment, including shears, roll forming equipment, iron workers, punch presses, and other machinery.
  • Operate CNC equipment, such as turret punch presses, laser torches, plasma torches, and brake presses, using computerized down loading systems.
  • Manually move materials in and out of work centers with assistance from coworkers, overhead hoists, hand pallet trucks, and tow motors.
  • Set up and operate various horizontal and vertical band saws, abrasive cut off saws, and pedestal grinders.
  • Operate small handheld tools, such as grinders, drills, and deburring equipment.
  • Support the Hartzell Culture initiatives and display the Hartzell Values.
  • Support the company's Lean initiatives and assist in Lean projects as required.
  • Follow all safety practices and rules, maintaining a clean and safe working environment in line with company policies.
Requirements:
  • Previous fabrication experience is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience with handheld grinders, drills, hammers, cutting torches, plasma cutting torches, seam welders, flange punches, and drill presses is highly desirable.
  • Experience with CNC equipment is preferred.
  • Previous application of Lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving tools is a plus.
  • Good understanding of blueprint reading and excellent math skills.
  • Ability to read squares, protractors, and measuring tapes.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Lifts frequently (60% of normal workday) material weighing 10-25 lbs. Occasionally lifts (25% of normal workday) material weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of close, distant, and color vision and have good depth perception.
  • Must reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Ability to read part numbers and directions provided on a worksheet.
  • Must be reliable and willing to work overtime when required.

Salary: Starting at $18.00/hr - $20.50/hr
