We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Specialist to join our team at Hartzell. As a Fabrication Specialist, you will be responsible for performing fabrication functions to take flat sheet goods and structural material to a finished part or product using established procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Receiving and Processing Work Orders: Receive work orders and verbal instructions from Production Supervisors or team leads, and work off of work orders, layouts, or required information in our computer system.
- Operating Fabrication Equipment: Set up and operate manual fabrication equipment, such as shears, roll forming equipment, iron workers, punch presses, and other machinery, using different types of foot pedals, hand levers, palm buttons, toggle switches, button controls, gauges, spot welders, and various measuring devices.
- CNC Equipment Operation: Set up and operate CNC equipment, such as turret punch presses, laser torches, plasma torches, and brake presses, through the use of programs, layouts, and work orders using a computerized down loading system.
- Material Handling: Manually move material in and out of work centers with assistance as necessary from co-workers, overhead hoists, hand pallet trucks, and tow motors.
- Tool Operation: Operate small hand-held tools, such as grinders, drills, and various deburring equipment.
- Supporting Company Initiatives: Support the Hartzell Culture initiatives and display and portray the Hartzell Values.
- Lean Initiatives: Support the company's Lean initiatives and assist in Lean projects as required.
- Safety and Housekeeping: Follow all safety practices and rules, maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with company policies, and support other departments or complete other duties as necessary.
- Previous Fabrication Experience: Previous fabrication experience is strongly desired.
- Hand Tool Experience: Previous experience with hand-held grinders, drills, hammers, cutting torches, plasma cutting torches, seam welders, flange punches, and drill presses is strongly desired.
- CNC Experience: Experience with CNC equipment is preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing Experience: Previous application of Lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving tools is a plus.
- Blueprint Reading and Math Skills: Good understanding of blueprint reading and excellent math skills are required.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to read squares, protractors, and measuring tapes, and be capable of close, distant, and color vision, and have good depth perception.
- Lifting and Bending: Must be able to lift frequently (60% of normal workday) material weighing up to lbs, and occasionally lift (25% of normal workday) material weighing up to lbs, and be able to reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Reliability and Flexibility: Must be reliable and willing to work overtime when required.
