Role Summary:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in assisting with the nursing care of patients, working under the guidance of licensed nursing staff. The PCT is entrusted with the responsibility of completing tasks assigned by nursing personnel, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols. Care is delivered in alignment with regulatory agency guidelines while embodying the core values of Gosnold.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and record vital signs accurately.
  • Conduct point-of-care testing and document findings under nursing supervision after demonstrating proficiency.
  • Support patients in fulfilling their personal care needs.
  • Assist patients with their daily living activities (ADLs).
  • Follow universal precautions for infection control and adhere to proper disposal procedures for sharps.
  • Maintain a clean and organized nurse's station, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Participate in in-service training programs to enhance skills.
  • Stay informed about all relevant procedures and protocols at Gosnold.
  • Uphold the Professional Staff Code of Ethics.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications:

The following qualifications are necessary to perform this role effectively:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Skills: Proficient in both written and verbal communication. Ability to navigate electronic medical records and operate medical equipment for vital sign assessment. Training will be provided for assessment skills.
  • Certifications: Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within three (3) months of employment.
