In this position, the Senior Components Engineer (Contract role) will assist in managing tasks related to the selection and upkeep of electronic components, collaborating with the broader component engineering team focused on various hardware designs for innovative electric vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance of the Arena Parts library from a component engineering perspective.
  • Assist the component engineering team in implementing multi-sourcing strategies within design and manufacturing processes, while driving part lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Program Management teams to ensure alignment regarding part availability, costs, and scheduled build timelines for hardware.
  • Support design engineers in selecting appropriate electronic components for their specific applications.
  • Create Internal Part Numbers for new part requests associated with new designs in the Arena PLM database.
  • Review Bills of Materials (BoM) to ensure compliance with application specifications (AEC-Q, Electrical/Mechanical, Temperature grade).
  • Manage the supply chain lifecycle for electronic components, including End-of-Life (EOL), Last Time Buy (LTB), and Product Change Notifications (PCNs).
  • Assist the supply chain during clear-to-build (CTB) assessments by identifying alternative components for known shortages.
  • Contribute to the development of overall processes and workflows among cross-functional teams.
  • Provide weekly updates to management regarding progress on deliverables and highlight any potential risks.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in component engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in analyzing and assessing new or enhanced electronic components.
  • Familiarity with Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) and ECAD tools (such as Altium and OrCAD) relevant to component responsibilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of the AEC-Q qualification process.
  • Background in Electrical Engineering Design/Test.
  • Experience with Altium software.
