Job Title: Psychologist Corrections Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Psychologist Corrections Specialist to join our team at Body Fit Plus Inc. in Crescent City, California.

Job Summary:

The Psychologist Corrections Specialist will provide psychological services to mentally ill inmates/wards, maintain order and supervise the conduct of patient-inmates/youths, and protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history, to assess inmate's current needs and make treatment recommendations.
  • Meet with mentally ill inmates/wards for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, face-to-face interviews, etc.
  • Conduct mental status exams (MSE) in face-to-face interviews and examine prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in the formulation of patient's diagnosis and aid in the development of the inmate's treatment plans.
  • Establish collaborative ties with community programs, groups, agencies, board and care homes, etc. to develop supportive community relationships as assigned and approved by the supervisor.
  • Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender inmates/wards.
  • Assist patient-inmates/youths in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services.
  • Compile and analyze data from audits pertaining to the mental health program requirements.
  • Provide information (i.e., appointment documentation, no-shows, etc.) to support staff for data entry.
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with the patient-inmates/youths, families, and caretakers, as assigned and approved by the supervisor, in order to enhance effective treatment delivery.
  • Represent the department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters.
  • Give input and help to implement new programs for the treatment, training, or rehabilitation of patient-inmates/youths.
Requirements:
  • Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years rendering direct patient care in public or private institution. Clinical competencies must be current.
  • Valid Photo ID Driver's License or Passport (Required)
  • Possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association
  • Valid California Psychologist license Hard Copy (Required)
