Key Responsibilities:

  • Address urgent situations within the system to alleviate immediate and potential security threats.
  • Implement mitigation, preparedness, and recovery strategies to optimize information security.
  • Supervise, assess, and facilitate the documentation, validation, and accreditation processes to ensure IT systems align with the organization's security standards.
  • Guarantee appropriate risk management, compliance, and assurance from both internal and external viewpoints.
  • Offer security guidance and recommendations to leadership and staff in accordance with NIST and FIPS standards.
  • Evaluate system security assessment reports for potential vulnerabilities.
  • Estimate security risks linked to the introduction of new technologies.
  • Utilize defensive strategies and information from various sources to identify, analyze, and report security incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in supporting information security and assurance programs, policies, and procedures aligned with various security frameworks and regulations, such as FISMA, OMB directives, Presidential Directives, NIST (SP-800 series, FIPS), HIPAA, and the Privacy Act.
  • Extensive knowledge of FISMA and FEDRAMP requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of NIST SP 800 series documentation.
  • Deep familiarity with security control requirements and standard implementation methods.
  • Practical experience in IT System contingency planning.
  • Comprehension of risk assessment and management principles.
  • Solid grasp of continuous monitoring and authorization processes.
  • Understanding of the protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA).
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, especially during review processes.
