We are seeking a highly skilled Academic Advisor to join our team at InsideHigherEd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic guidance and support to students, helping them to achieve their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Academic Advising: Provide individualized academic advising to students, helping them to develop educational plans and achieve their academic goals.
- Student Support: Offer support and guidance to students who are experiencing academic difficulties, helping them to overcome obstacles and achieve success.
- Program Development: Assist in the development and implementation of academic programs and services, including new student orientation and peer mentoring initiatives.
- Communication: Engage in regular communication with students, faculty, and staff to promote student success and retention.
- Assessment: Participate in assessment processes to evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs and services.
- Education: Bachelor's degree with coursework in Education, Human Relations, Psychology, Human Services, or College Student Personnel, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience: One to two years of experience in Higher Education in Student Affairs, or a master's degree will supplement the years of related work experience in a higher education environment.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish rapport with diverse personalities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, self-directed with ability to work independently, working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems.
This is a professional office environment with extensive people interaction. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
