Job Summary

Under general supervision, follows established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, performing customer service, receptionist and clerical/secretarial activities. Serves as a communication resource for patients, visitors, family, and healthcare team members with the ability to triage communication priorities. Answers the telephone and patient intercom system. Alerts nursing staff to patient and family concerns and other calls, orders supplies and stock items as required. Keeps unit neat and organized. Also responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and healthcare team members.
  • Answers and directs telephone calls, and responds to patient intercom system messages.
  • Triages communication priorities and alerts nursing staff to patient and family concerns.
  • Orders supplies and stock items as required to maintain a well-stocked unit.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of customer service excellence, basic computer skills, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing required.
