Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Correctional Health Assistant to join our team at the City of Danville, VA. This role offers a competitive salary range of $57,815.06 - $69,378.07 annually and comprehensive benefits package.

About the Role
  • This position requires occasional weekends and varied hours of work to meet the needs of the facility.
  • You will be responsible for performing medical screenings, assisting the facility doctor with medical procedures, and setting up and delivering prescribed medicine.
  • You will also act as a liaison with medical providers and initiate emergency treatments of inmates.
Responsibilities
  1. Conduct physical assessments, including TB testing of each new inmate, and review assessment done by intake officer.
  2. Assist the facility doctor with medical procedures, such as routine check-ups and minor surgical procedures.
  3. Order and set up medication, schedule outside consults, and provide prescribed treatment.
  4. Schedule outside medical runs for inmates and ensure orders are carried out.
  5. Respond to medical emergencies and deliver available first aid.
Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to four years of experience in a related field.
  • Certifications/Licenses: EMT, Jailor Certification, and First Aid/CPR Bloodborne Pathogens instructor certification.
